Administering Services on Windows The following example shows you how this appears in Windows 2000. The services are found in the Control Panel Services applet. Note that by highlighting the service the Starts and stop services message appears, telling us what the service does and by choosing this option the following screen appears.
Notice that the DHCP client in has been started. This message appears when this service is highlighted: Manages network configuration by registering and updating IP addresses and DNS names The same is true of the DNS service, which is also running: Resolves and caches Domain Name System (DNS) names Hopefully these examples will make it easier for you to investigate and understand the maze of services available.
