Router

The router is much like a switch, but bigger and smarter. A router works with the IP number of the devices. And since TCP or UDP breaks up network traffic into little bite sized clumps called Packets, it can round robin to different incoming and outgoing lanes (wires) very quickly. Without routers, the Internet wouldn't exist today.
