LED

A specific type of diode is very popular in computer equipment. That is the Light Emitting Diode (LED).

It is used to indicate something is on, working or busy. A pair of typical LEDs for computers appears in Figure 15.

Figure 15: A pair of LEDs. Some LEDs have a multi-color output that can be used to indicate different states of operation.
