chkconfig - Updates and Queries Run Level Information for System Services
From the man page - chkconfig provides a simple command-line tool for maintaining the /etc/rc[0-6].d directory hierarchy by relieving system administrators of the task of directly manipulating the numerous symbolic links in those directories.
chkconfig has three important options: --list, --add, --del. List will show the all the services the chkconfig knows, add and del will enable or disable services for specified run levels. Read the man page carefully.
