Event Viewer

Windows NT based systems record many events, which you can monitor in Event Viewer. In Application and System log, program and system can inform you about errors, warnings and other information. Application developer decides when to send those messages. Security log is programmable by user. For example, you can track particular events such as file access to particular file.
