DNS

DNS was discussed in depth previously, but it reappears here as it can be considered the backbone of the Internet. To recap, DNS allows for the translation of human friendly names such as www.microsoft.com to network friendly IP addresses such as 192.168.0.1.

DNS uses port 53.
